Woman Killed in Accident at SW Savona Boulevard and SW Lawndale Avenue in Port St. Lucie

Police said an 86 year old woman was killed following a two vehicle accident Thursday afternoon at the intersection of SW Savona Boulevard and SW Lawndale Avenue in Port St. Lucie.

Port St. Lucie, FL.- One person was killed following a two vehicle accident Thursday afternoon in Port St. Lucie.

The accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on July 30 at the intersection of SW Savona Boulevard and SW Lawndale Avenue.

Investigators said 86 year old Marie R. Martin was driving a 2006 Hyundai Elantra westbound on Lawndale Avenue when she entered the intersection from a stop sign and failed to yield to a northbound Honda HR-V.

Police said the Honda, driven by a 17 year old boy, struck the driver’s side of the Hyundai.

Martin became trapped inside her vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency crews before being transported to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital with critical injuries.

She later died from her injuries.

The teenage driver of the Honda was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
