Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on South Federal Highway in Pompano Beach

nvestigators said a man was killed after a BMW left South Federal Highway and struck a covered bus stop Tuesday afternoon in Pompano Beach.

Pompano Beach, FL.- A pedestrian was killed following an accident Tuesday afternoon in Pompano Beach.

The accident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on July 21 in the 900 block of South Federal Highway.

Investigators said the driver of a 2024 BMW M240i was traveling south on the 500 block of South Federal Highway when the vehicle became involved in a rear end collision with a 2017 Honda Accord.

Authorities said the BMW then passed the Honda and continued southbound.

A short distance later, the BMW left the roadway, entered the swale on the west side of South Federal Highway, and struck a covered Broward County bus stop where a man was present.

Following the collision, the BMW continued forward and struck two light poles, a tree, and several unoccupied vehicles parked at a nearby auto dealership.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s identity has not been released.

The accident remains under investigation.
