Authorities said four people, including two children, were injured following a five vehicle chain reaction accident Sunday afternoon on Highway 395 in Kennewick.
Kennewick, WA.- Four people were injured following a multi vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in Kennewick.
The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on July 19 on northbound Highway 395 south of the Highway 240 interchange.
Investigators said a Ford Expedition had broken down and was partially blocking a travel lane. Traffic slowed as vehicles approached the disabled SUV.
Authorities said a BMW 328 changed lanes near the backup and collided with a Hyundai Elantra. The Elantra was then pushed into a Toyota Corolla and a Volkswagen.
The occupants of the Hyundai Elantra, identified as 25 year old Dariana P. Machado Marquez and a 2 month old girl, were transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla, 28 year old Darnell L. Brown of Hermiston, Oregon, and a 2 year old girl were also taken to the same hospital.
Authorities said none of the four patients suffered life threatening injuries, although one person sustained injuries serious enough to require an extended hospital stay.
The accident remains under investigation.
