Kokomo, IN.- Emergency crews responded to an injury hit and run accident Monday evening in Kokomo.
The accident occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. on July 20 near the north split of U.S. 31 at Exit 167.
Authorities said the incident was initially reported as a traffic accident before being upgraded to an injury crash after emergency responders arrived.
Investigators said the driver responsible fled the scene.
According to dispatch information, the suspect vehicle was described as a red 2004 Ford F-150 with extensive front end damage.
The pickup truck was last seen traveling northbound, and investigators were able to obtain the vehicle’s license plate number.
Authorities have not released information regarding the number of people injured or the extent of their injuries.
The accident remains under investigation as authorities work to locate the driver.
