4 Severely Hurt in Multi-Car Accident at Cortez and Treiman Boulevards in Dade City, Hernando County

Fire officials said a Toyota Tacoma was heading northbound on Treiman Boulevard while a Chevy Bolt and a Ford Ranger were traveling westbound on Cortez Boulevard. The Toyota driver did not see the red traffic light as the two cars approached the intersection.

4 Severely Hurt in Multi-Vehicle Crash at Cortez Boulevard and Treiman Boulevard in Hernando County

Hernando County, FL.- Four people were severely hurt following a multi-car accident on Friday afternoon in Dade City, Hernando County, according to the Hernando County Fire Rescue.

The accident occurred at 3:00 p.m. on July 3, at the Cortez Boulevard and Treiman Boulevard intersection.

Fire officials said a Toyota Tacoma was heading northbound on Treiman Boulevard while a Chevy Bolt and a Ford Ranger were traveling westbound on Cortez Boulevard. The Toyota driver did not see the red traffic light as the two cars approached the intersection.

As the truck entered the junction, the Chevy’s front hit the Toyota’s right rear. The Toyota’s front then crashed into the Ford’s driver door causing it to spin counterclockwise and slam into a concrete traffic barrier.

Responding emergency teams attended to four trauma alerts. One additional patient was rushed to the hospital by an ALS ambulance.

Air medical support, mutual aid from Pasco County Fire Rescue that responded with an engine and rescue unit was requested.

The westbound lanes of Cortez Boulevard (SR 50) were closed to establish a safe landing zone for the helicopters.

The incident remains under investigation.
