1 Killed, 2 Others Hurt in Head-On Crash on Orange Avenue in Orlando

Troopers said that a 26-year-old driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, was heading southbound on Orange Avenue when, for unknown reasons, the car ran off the left side of the road, crossed the median and drove into the northbound lanes.

1 Sustains Fatal Injuries After Head-On Accident on Orange Avenue near Wetherbee Road

Orlando, FL. – One person was killed and two others were severely injured after a head-on collision on Wednesday morning in Orlando.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 6:30 a.m. on July 1, on the Orange Avenue overpass near Wetherbee Road.

Troopers said a 26-year-old driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, was heading southbound on Orange Avenue when, for unknown reasons, the car ran off the left side of the road, crossed the median and drove into the northbound lanes.

The Impala then crashed head-on into a 2012 Toyota 4Runner operated by a 61-year-old Kissimmee man. The two vehicles burst into flames after the accident.

 A 33-year-old man was a passenger in the Toyota.

All the three persons involved in the accident were rushed to the hospital where the 61-year-old man succumbed to his injuries. The Toyota passenger and the Chevrolet driver sustained severe injuries and were hospitalized.

Troopers blocked Orange Avenue overpass at Wetherbee Road and drivers detoured to Boggy Creek Road.

An investigation is underway.
