Troopers said a 2016 Ford Explorer operated by a 41-year-old man from Lorida was heading west on State Road 70, west of Northwest New Pine Ridge Road. At the same time, a 2005 Dodge Ram operated by a 69-year-old man from Port St. Lucie was heading east on State Road 70.

Highlands County, FL. – Two men were killed after a head-on collision on Tuesday afternoon near the Highlands County–Okeechobee County line, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at 12:10 p.m. on June 16, on State Road 70, west of Northwest New Pine Ridge Road.
Troopers said a 2016 Ford Explorer operated by a 41-year-old man from Lorida was heading west on State Road 70, west of Northwest New Pine Ridge Road. At the same time, a 2005 Dodge Ram operated by a 69-year-old man from Port St. Lucie was heading east on State Road 70. The Ford then crossed the centerline and the left front of the Ford and crashed into the left front of the Dodge.
The two drivers were declared dead at the crash site.
State Road 70, just east of County Road 721 was blocked and drivers asked to seek alternate routes following the crash.
No additional information concerning this collision was provided.
