Sunrise, FL. – One person was killed in a multi-vehicle accident on Sunday morning in Sunrise, according to the Sunrise Police Department.
The accident occurred on May 9 in the 2900 block of University Drive.
Police said multiple vehicles side-swiped each other causing sparks to fly and a cloud of smoke filled the scene. One of the cars hit a pole.
One of the drivers involved in the collision was declared dead at the crash site. The other persons were transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
Police closed southbound University Drive for several hours but the lanes have since reopened.
An investigation is underway.
