Redmond Man Dies After Car Crash on Highway 26 near Milepost 28 in Bend

Bend, OR. – A Redmond man was killed and a woman was flown to the hospital after a traffic collision last Thursday in Bend, according to the Oregon State Police.

The collision occurred at about 7:29 p.m. on April 30 near milepost 28.

Police said a Toyota Tacoma operated by a 18-year-old teen of Whitefish, Mont. crossed into the opposing lanes and crashed into a Subaru Outback operated by a 45-year-old woman of Redmond.

An Outback passenger, a 42-year-old man, was declared dead at the crash site. The Outback driver sustained severe injuries and was flown to the hospital.

The teen driver reportedly fell asleep while on the wheel causing the crash. He was not hurt in the crash. He stayed at the crash site and was cooperative with investigators.

Police did not say if the teen was cited.

An investigation is underway.
