Troopers said a pickup truck was heading eastbound on Northwest 54th Street when it drove through the junction and crashed into a concrete barrier wall. The pickup then drove over the barrier and entered the southbound lanes of the Palmetto Expressway, where it slammed into another car near Northwest 36th Street.

Palmetto, FL. – A driver was killed after a traffic collision on Friday morning in Palmetto, Miami-Dade County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred a while before 6:30 a.m. on April 17, on Northwest 54th Street.
Troopers said a pickup truck was heading eastbound on Northwest 54th Street when it drove through the junction and crashed into a concrete barrier wall. The pickup then drove over the barrier and entered the southbound lanes of the Palmetto Expressway, where it slammed into another car near Northwest 36th Street.
The pickup driver was declared dead at the crash site.
Police said they believed that the case was a suicide by the driver of the pickup as they fpund a firearm at the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle sustained injuries and was transported to an area hospital where they were listed in a stable condition.
The expressway lanes were reopened by 1:00 p.m.
An investigation by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is underway.
