1 Killed, 1 Critically Injured in Rollover Crash in Decatur

Police said a white SUV was making a left turn onto East Mound Road from North Water St. with a green arrow. At the same time a silver truck was heading north on North Water St. The truck then ran the red light and crashed into the SUV.

1 Killed in Rollover Car Accident at North Water Street and East Mound Road in Decatur

Decatur, IL. – One person was killed and another was critically injured following a rollover crash on Wednesday morning in Decatur, according to the Decatur Police Department.

The collision occurred a while before 11:30 a.m. on January 7th near the North Water Street and East Mound Road intersection, near Target and Olive Garden.

Police said a white SUV was making a left turn onto East Mound Road from North Water St. with a green arrow. At the same time a silver truck was heading north on North Water St. The truck then ran the red light and crashed into the SUV.

The SUV driver was declared dead at the crash site.

A 32-year-old Decatur man, the truck driver, was treated for life-threatening injuries at an area hospital.

The two drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles. 

There is no indication that the drivers were under the influence of alcohol.

No additional details regarding this crash were released.

The incident remains under investigation.
