Trooper Airlifted After High-Speed Crash on Central Florida Highway in Brevard County

Brevard County, FL. – A trooper was flown to the hospital after a high-speed crash on Christmas Day, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at around 1:30 p.m. on December 25, on Interstate 85.

The FHP officials said, a car was swerving and driving at a speed of 140 mph on the freeway when a trooper attempted to pull the car over and a pursuit began into Titusville. The vehicle and the patrol vehicle finally went off the roadway and hit the guardrail.

The trooper sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to a hospital. He was conscious and talking at the time.

The vehicle driver, 19-years-old, and passenger, 21-years-old, were arrested and are facing several charges.

The driver is facing charges of two counts of reckless driving, two counts of dangerous excessive speeding, two counts of aggravated fleeing at a high speed and one count of driving with a suspended license. The passenger was issued a warrant of arrest in another county.

An investigation is underway.
