4 Injured in Head-On Crash on Manhattan Road in Elwood

Elwood, IL. – Four persons were hurt following a head-on collision on Thursday evening in Elwood, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred a while before 5:00 p.m. on December 18, in the 17000 block of Manhattan Road.

Deputies said two vehicles crashed in unclear circumstances. One of the vehicles had one occupant while the second vehicle had three occupants. Three of them were extricated.

Four people were hurt in the collision. Two sustained critical injuries. All the four patients were initially taken to Silver Cross Hospital. One of them was reportedly airlifted.

Manhattan Road was closed at Ridge Road for a longer period of time following the collision.

An investigation is underway.
