The driver and a passenger in the Nissan were pronounced dead at the scene

Surprise, AZ. – Two people were killed, and two others were injured in a three-vehicle accident in Surprise on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The collision occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Loop 303 near Grand Avenue (U.S. 60), at milepost 118.
AZDPS said a Toyota Sienna minivan was traveling northbound when its hood opened up and hit the windshield.
The driver slowed down in an attempt to leave the freeway. The minivan was then rear-ended by a Nissan SUV, which was then hit by a Toyota SUV.
The driver and a passenger in the Nissan were pronounced dead at the scene.
The minivan driver and the Toyota driver were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident closed the northbound lanes of Loop 303 at Bell Road for several hours.
Troopers are investigating the accident.
