Police said a 2022 USPS Mercedes-Benz truck driver, a 48-year-old man, was heading southbound on Mannheim Road when he drove into the northbound lanes and crashed head-on into a northbound 2005 Chrysler Sebring.

Woman Sustains Fatal Injuries After Head-On Crash on Mannheim Road in Des Plaines

Des Plaines, IL. – A woman was killed after a head-on collision on Saturday morning in Des Plaines, according to the Illinois State Police.

The accident occurred a while after 10:00 a.m. on December 6, in the 1700 block of Mannheim Road.

Police said a 2022 USPS Mercedes-Benz truck driver, a 48-year-old man, was heading southbound on Mannheim Road when he drove into the northbound lanes and crashed head-on into a northbound 2005 Chrysler Sebring.

The USPS driver told police that he temporarily lost control of his car prior to the collision.

The two drivers were rushed to the hospital.

The Chrysler driver was killed in the crash.

The USPS driver was cited for improper lane usage and was scheduled to appear in court on January 16.

An investigation is underway.
