Troopers said a Mercedes Benz SUV was stopped in the center lane southbound on the Florida Turnpike at I-595 when a tractor-trailer in the center lane slammed into the back of the SUV pushing it in a southeasterly direction. The SUV then crashed into a concrete median wall.
Broward County, FL. – One person was killed after a traffic collision early Friday morning in Broward County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The accident occurred on December 5, on the Florida Turnpike at Interstate 595.
Troopers said a Mercedes Benz SUV was stopped in the center lane southbound on the Florida Turnpike at I-595 when a tractor-trailer in the center lane slammed into the back of the SUV pushing it in a southeasterly direction. The SUV then crashed into a concrete median wall.
The SUV driver, a 36-year-old woman from Miami, was killed in the accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 53-year-old Miami man, was not hurt in the collision.
Traffic delays were experienced in the area following the crash.
An investigation is underway.
