Gulfport, FL. – Two people were critically hurt following an electric scooter accident on Friday evening in Gulfport, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident happened on November 28, at the intersection of Gulfport Boulevard and Luana Lane S.
Authorities said the two people were riding an electric scooter east in the curb lane of Gulfport Boulevard when they were struck by a vehicle from behind. The involved driver fled the scene after the crash.
The two patients, identified as a 61-year-old man and 42-year-old woman, were taken to the hospital in a critical condition.
Deputies described the involved vehicle as an older model SUV with heavy front-end damage and the rear driver’s side window looked triangular shaped.
An investigation by the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is ongoing.
