Man Killed in West Phoenix Collision on 67th Avenue

Phoenix, AZ. – A man was killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in west Phoenix , according to local authorities.

The collision occurred around 3:15 a.m. near 67th Avenue and Virginia Avenue, just south of Thomas Road.

A 19-year-old man, who police say was impaired, was driving a car northbound on 67th Avenue at a high rate of speed.

At the same time, a 38-year-old man attempted to turn left onto Virginia Avenue from southbound 67th Avenue, and the two vehicles collided.

The 28-year-old driver suffered severe injuries and died at the scene.

Officers also noted that the 19-year-old driver did not have his headlights on prior to the impact.

He was arrested at the scene and later booked on multiple charges, including manslaughter, aggravated assault, and endangerment.

The accident remains under investigation.
