Lake County, FL. – A woman died after being hit by a car in Altoona, Lake County, on Wednesday evening.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 2:24 p.m. at Potters Court and Lakeview Terrace Drive.
A 96-year-old woman, driving a Ford Edge, was backing out of a parking space when she struck a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, an 80-year-old Altoona woman, was airlifted to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital, where she later died.
The SUV driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
