The driver of the striking semi was airlifted to IU Health Methodist Hospital with serious injuries.

Delaware County, IN. – A Delaware County sheriff’s deputy died in a car crash on Wednesday morning in Yorktown.
According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened around 3:30 a.m. on I-69 north at mile marker 247, near IN 32.
The deputy reportedly pulled over behind a disabled semi-truck to offer help to the driver. An oncoming semi lost control and struck the patrol car as well as the disabled vehicle.
The deputy was standing outside the vehicles and was struck during the impact.
The deputy died at the accident scene.
