Apopka, FL. – Three teens were killed in a car crash that left three others injured in Apopka early Sunday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 1:37 a.m. on Welch Road near Wekiwa Drive.

A 17-year-old boy was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on Welch Road when he lost control, veered off the road and struck a tree.

Two passengers, both from Apopka, a 17-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 17-year-old passenger was transported to AdventHealth Apopka, where he died while receiving treatment.

The driver and two male passengers, ages 14 and 15, were taken to area hospitals with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
