Trae Andrew Blackbear Shot and Killed by Police in Eagle Point, Oregon

Eagle Point, Oregon — October 15, 2025: Authorities identified Trae Andrew Blackbear, age 32, as the man shot and killed by officers with the Eagle Point Police Department following a reported domestic dispute near East Main Street and Royal Avenue.

According to reports, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call Wednesday afternoon. Upon arrival, police allege that Blackbear brandished a knife and attempted to stab an officer. In response, one or more officers opened fire, fatally striking him. The incident prompted nearby schools to go on temporary lockdown while police secured the area. The investigation remains pending.

Police have not released additional details about which officer fired or whether body camera footage captured the encounter. The Jackson County Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit is reviewing the case, as required under Oregon law.
