Grove City, Ohio — October 8, 2025: Authorities identified Dominque Jalen Byrdsong, age 32, as the man shot and killed by officers with the Grove City Police Department following an armed confrontation near the 3000 block of Barbee Avenue.
According to police, officers were dispatched after a homeowner reported that an armed individual was attempting to burglarize their home. When officers arrived, they found Byrdsong barricaded inside the residence. Authorities say he later fled on foot while firing a gun toward officers, prompting police to return fire and fatally shoot him.
No officers were injured during the exchange of gunfire. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) is leading the independent investigation into the shooting, which remains ongoing.
