The garbage truck driver was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center, where they were treated and released

Reardan, WA. – A man was killed and another person was injured in a head-on collision just east of Reardan on Friday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The fatal collision happened around 10:30 a.m. on US Highway 2.
WSP said the man was driving a car westbound on the highway while a 27-year-old was driving a garbage truck eastbound.
The car entered the eastbound lane while attempting to pass traffic, and the garbage truck driver slowed and moved onto the shoulder to avoid the car, but the car crashed head-on into the truck.
Both vehicles caught on fire after the collision.
The car driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident closed US 2 just west of Stroup Road for several hours.
The WSP is investigating the accident.
