According to the Illinois State Police, the accident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Interstate 64 westbound near milepost 56.
An SUV reportedly veered off the highway and crashed.
A 66-year-old Mt. Vernon man was injured in the accident and was airlifted to a regional hospital for treatment.
