The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) is investigating after a deputy fired their weapon, striking one person in Belle Glade, Florida, on Wednesday afternoon.
According to PBSO officials, the shooting occurred near Avenue G, directly across the street from Glade View Elementary School. Deputies responded to the area just after 12:30 p.m., where a large law enforcement presence quickly assembled.
Local reporter Caleb Califano described the scene as highly active, with multiple patrol units, crime scene tape, and the PBSO Mobile Command Unit on-site. Sheriff Ric Bradshaw was also observed at the location, underscoring the seriousness of the investigation.
Officials confirmed that one person was struck by gunfire and that no deputies were injured in the incident. Authorities have not yet released the identity or condition of the person shot, nor details regarding what led to the discharge of the deputy’s weapon.
