Man Fatally Shot by San Diego Police Near Orange Avenue School

San Diego, California — September 23, 2025:
Authorities have confirmed that a man was shot and killed by officers with the San Diego Police Department after a confrontation near the 5100 block of Orange Avenue.

According to official statements, officers responded to reports of a man on or near a children’s school campus allegedly carrying a sharp object. When police arrived, they located the individual matching the description nearby and claimed he was armed with a knife and another unidentified object.

Officers attempted to use a K9 unit and less-lethal projectiles, including bean bag rounds, to subdue the man. Despite these efforts, the encounter escalated, and police opened fire, fatally wounding him.

Authorities have not released the man’s identity or additional information regarding what led to the shooting. The San Diego Police Department has stated that the incident remains under pending investigation.
