91-Year-Old Daytona Beach Shores Man Killed After Vehicle Crash on I-4 and SR-46 in Sanford

91-Year-Old Man Sustains Fatal Injuries After Car Crash on I-4 and SR-46 in Sanford

Sanford, FL. – A 91-year-old Daytona Beach Shores man was killed after a traffic collision on Monday morning in Sanford, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred a while after 10:00 a.m. on October 6, on east on I-4 and SR-46 overpass.

Troopers said the man was driving a 2008 Honda Accord east on I-4, approaching the SR-46 overpass. The Honda drifted off to the left and hit the median guardrail.

The impact caused the Honda to roll onto SR-46, where it crashed into a Mercedes that was stopped in the eastbound left turn lane. The Mercedes sustained damage.

The 91-year-old Daytona Beach Shores man driving the Honda was declared dead at the crash site.

The Mercedes driver, a 21-year-old woman from Sanford, was not hurt in the collision. She stayed at the scene after the accident.

The roadway was closed in both directions but later reopened after 3:00 p.m. 

An investigation is underway.
