Stephenson County, IL. – A 76-year-old woman from Galena was killed following a single-vehicle accident on Tuesday afternoon in Stephenson County, according to the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident happened a while before 3:07 p.m. on September 23 on US Route 20 near Rock City Road.
Deputies said the woman was travelling westbound when her car swerved off the roadway, hit a ditch and went airborne landing near a residential driveway in the 7500 block, near Rock City Road.
The woman and the sole occupant of the car was rushed to an area hospital where she was declared dead.
Further details regarding the accident were not released.
The incident remains under investigation.
