Lake Forest, IL. – A construction worker was injured after a train accident on Sunday afternoon in Lake Forest, according to the Lake Forest Police Department.

The accident occurred at about 12:05 p.m. on September 21, near Everett and Waukegan Roads.

Police said an Amtrak train hit a front-end loader that was working on the track. The train stopped after the collision.

The operator of the construction vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries and was rushed to an area hospital.

All service on the Milwaukee District North line was temporarily suspended following the accident.

Authorities urged the public to avoid the area while crews and investigators worked at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
