Police said the man and his wife, all of Allentown, New Jersey, were cycling west on the shoulder when a pickup truck heading west hit them.

Bloomington, IL. – A 69-year-old man from New Jersey died weeks after being struck by a pickup truck while riding a bicycle in southeast Bloomington.
According to the Illinois State Police, the crash happened a while after 10:40 a.m. on Aug. 25 on U.S. 150 near Evans Junior High School, just east of North 1750 East Road.
Police said the man and his wife, all of Allentown, New Jersey, were cycling west on the shoulder when a pickup truck heading west hit them.
The two were rushed to the hospital. The man died on September 11 while his wife’s condition has not been released.
The truck operator, identified as 72-year-old LeRoy man, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
An investigation is ongoing.
