Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on US Route 136 near County Road 1950 E in Rantoul, Champaign County

Police said the motorcyclist was riding in the area when he crashed his motorcycle in unclear circumstances.

Champaign County, IL. – The Illinois State Police are investigating a motorcycle crash that killed a rider on Sunday evening in Rantoul, Champaign County.

The deadly collision happened around 7:30 p.m. September 14, on Route 136 at County Road 1950 E.

Police said the motorcyclist was riding in the area when he crashed his motorcycle in unclear circumstances.

Responding emergency crews rushed the rider to an area hospital where they succumbed to their injuries on September 16 at 1:47 p.m.

Police closed the roadway for several hours and westbound traffic diverted at County Road 2000 E while eastbound traffic was diverted at County Road 1900 E.

The roadway reopened at about 9:00 p.m.

No additional details regarding this collision were released.

An investigation is underway.
