Mt. Zion Man Killed in Semi-Truck Accident at U.S. Route 36 and Illinois Route 32 in La Place

Police confirmed a semi was heading northbound on Route 32 when it drove into the intersection and was hit by a semi traveling westbound on Route 36.

La Place, IL. – A 63-year-old Mt. Zion man was killed after a semi-truck collision on Wednesday morning in La Place, according to the Illinois State Police.

The deadly crash happened at about 10:45 a.m. on September 17, at U.S. Route 36 and Illinois Route 32.

Police confirmed a semi was heading northbound on Route 32 when it drove into the intersection and was hit by a semi traveling westbound on Route 36.

The Mt. Zion man operating the westbound truck was rushed to the hospital where he died.

The other semi driver was transported the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

Police closed the junction for several hours following the collision.

The roadway was reopened later in the afternoon.

An investigation is underway.
