29-Year-Old Cantonment Man Killed in Crash on Highway 97 and Meadows Road in Davisville

Police said the Cantonment man was heading northbound in an SUV while a dump truck was heading southbound. The SUV veered into the path of the dump truck for unknown reasons. The dump truck operator swerved in an attempt to avoid the collision. The dump truck rolled over after the crash.

Man Killed After Vehicle Crash on Highway 97 and Meadows Road

Davisville, FL. – A 29-year-old Cantonment man was killed after a two-vehicle accident on Friday morning in Davisville, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident happened a while before 7:00 a.m. on September 13, on Highway 97, approximately a third of a mile south of Meadows Road.

Police said the Cantonment man was heading northbound in an SUV while a dump truck was heading southbound. The SUV veered into the path of the dump truck for unknown reasons. The dump truck operator swerved in an attempt to avoid the collision. The dump truck rolled over after the crash.

The Cantonment man was declared dead at the crash site.

The dump truck driver, a 62-year-old Pensacola man, was flown by AirCare 2 helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola with minor injuries.

Tons of small gravel spilled from the dump truck and police closed Highway 97 for several hours to give way to a clearing operation.

The incident remains under investigation.
