Show Low, AZ – Three people, among them two firefighters, were killed in a head-on collision involving an ambulance in Show Low late Sunday night, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The fatal collision occurred around 10:15 p.m. September 14, on State Route 260 between Heber-Overgaard and Show Low.
According to preliminary investigations, a westbound passenger vehicle, for unknown reasons, crossed over the center line into the opposite lane and crashed into a Timber Mesa Fire District ambulance head-on.
The driver of the passenger vehicle and the two firefighters who were inside the ambulance were all pronounced dead at the scene.
State Route 260 was temporarily closed in both directions near Clay Springs and reopened just before 6:00 a.m. on Monday.
No further details were provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
