Jason Hart Killed in Car Accident at Mattis Avenue and East Ford Harris in Champaign

Deputies said a motorcycle and a truck towing farm equipment collided. The truck operated by a 39-year-old male from Foosland was heading eastbound on East Ford Harris Road while Hart and another rider were heading northbound on Mattis Avenue. As the two riders approached the junction, Hart crashed into the trailer of the truck.

Champaign, IL. – 58-year-old Jason Hart of Champaign has been identified as the motorcyclist killed after a traffic collision at an intersection in Champaign on Saturday afternoon, according to the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.

The deadly crash occurred a while before 2:00 p.m. on September 13, at the Mattis Avenue and East Ford Harris Road intersection.

Deputies said a motorcycle and a truck towing farm equipment collided. The truck operated by a 39-year-old male from Foosland was heading eastbound on East Ford Harris Road while Hart and another rider were heading northbound on Mattis Avenue. As the two riders approached the junction, Hart crashed into the trailer of the truck.

The second rider avoided the crash.

Hart, the motorcyclist, was declared dead at the crash site.
