Several people were transported to local hospitals for treatment

Marion, IN. – A woman died in a car crash that left several people injured on Saturday night in Marion.
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened around 8:46 p.m. on State Road 9 at Meridian Street.
A southbound car slowed down to make a left-hand turn onto Meridian Street and was rear-ended, causing it to spin into the opposite lane, where it was struck by a northbound vehicle.
The impact sent the vehicle into the path of a third southbound car.
At least one person was trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated.
Several people were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
A 57-year-old Marion woman was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital, where she later died.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
