Tucson, AZ – A University of Arizona student was killed on Tuesday in a motorcycle accident in Tucson, according to the police.

The fatal accident happened on September 9 at the intersection at North Campbell Avenue and East University Boulevard near the University of Arizona.

Police said 19-year-old Nicholas Daniel Perez was riding a Kawasaki sport motorcycle at a high rate of speed heading southbound Campbell Avenue.

A Hyundai sedan was facing northbound on Campbell Avenue in the left-hand turn lane and was attempting to turn left westbound onto University Boulevard.

Perez rode from the median lane to the curb lane just before approaching the intersection.

The motorcycle and the sedan collided at the intersection and Perez was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The occupants of the Hyundai remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

The Hyundai driver was not impaired at the time of the accident.

The Hyundai’s failure to yield while making a left turn and Perez’s speed were the major contributing factors in the accident.

The police are investigating the accident.
