Police said a 2020 BMW X3 was traveling east on Bircher Road when a 2005 Toyota Corolla attempted to turn in front of it from Fisher Drive. The BMW struck the Toyota sending it east of the junction.

Elderly Couple Killed in Car Accident at Bircher Road and Fisher Drive in Geneva

Geneva, IL.- 85-year-old man and his 88-year-old wife were killed after a traffic collision on Friday afternoon in Geneva, according to the Geneva Police Department.

The accident happened at about 1:40 p.m. on September 5 at the intersection of Bircher Road and Fisher Drive.

Police said a 2020 BMW X3 was traveling east on Bircher Road when a 2005 Toyota Corolla attempted to turn in front of it from Fisher Drive. The BMW struck the Toyota sending it east of the junction.

The elderly couple in the Toyota died in the collision.

The BMW ended up in a wooded location north of the intersection and burst into flames after the accident. Firefighters extinguished the fire immediately.

The BMW driver, an 18-year-old man, and two of his passengers were treated and released at the crash site. One BMW passenger was transported to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital for treatment.

No one had been charged as of Friday night.

An investigation is ongoing.
