Tempe, AZ – Five people were critically injured Monday night after a street racing ended in an accident in Tempe, according to the police.

The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. on September 1 on Rio Salado Parkway east of Rural Road.

Police said a motorcycle and a Ford Mustang were racing westbound when the driver could not make the turn and crashed.

The five people in the Mustang were ejected from the car and were taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The motorcyclist returned to the scene after the accident.
