Illinois State Police Trooper Injured After DUI Car Accident on I-88 in Oakbrook

Police said a trooper parked their squad vehicle with emergency lights on, behind a broken- down semi-truck to assist the truck’s operator.

Oakbrook, IL. – An Illinois State Police trooper was injured following a DUI collision on Sunday morning in Suburban Oakbrook, DuPage County.

According to the Illinois State Police, the accident happened at about 4:00 a.m. on August 18 on westbound Interstate 88 at Milepost 139.

Police said a trooper parked their squad vehicle with emergency lights on, behind a broken- down semi-truck to assist the truck’s operator.

Police said a  24-year-old Tesla driver drove toward the squad vehicle and failed to move over and slammed into it and forced the car into the truck.

Rodriguez and the trooper were inside the squad vehicle when the collision occurred.

They were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The squad vehicle sustained damages and was towed away from the accident location.

The driver, a Romeo resident, was later arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence and Aggravated Scott’s Law/Move Over Law violations.
