Authorities said a 2012 tan Terrain SUV, a concrete truck and a 2021 RAM passenger van crashed for reasons still under investigation.

Boone County, IN. – 64-year-old Jose Chavez and 59-year-old Norma Perez was killed after a crash involving a concrete truck on Friday morning in rural Thorntown, Boone County, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident happened at around 10:25 a.m. August 15 in the 8500 block of North State Road 39, just north of Sugar Creek and the unincorporated community of Mechanicsburg.
Authorities said a 2012 tan Terrain SUV, a concrete truck and a 2021 RAM passenger van crashed for reasons still under investigation.
Chavez, the SUV driver, and Perez, the SUV’s front passenger died in the collision.
The SUV’s rear-passenger, 25-year-old Yaraliz Mercado of Frankfort, the van driver, 62-year-old Brice Stingley of Frankfort were hospitalized with severe injuries.
The concrete truck driver, 62-year-old Russel Hampton of Kempton sustained minor injuries and was hospitalized.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Fatal Alcohol Crash Team are investigating to determine if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
No one has been arrested following the crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
