Adams County, WA – Six people were injured Wednesday evening in a hit-and-run accident in Adams County, about 35 miles south of Ritzville, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The accident happened around 5:02 p.m. on August 13 at the intersection of U.S. Route 395 and State Route 26.
Troopers said a silver compact SUV was traveling southbound on US 395 and stopped at the top of the off-ramp to SR 26. It then pulled onto SR 26 in front of a westbound Toyota Sequoia, forcing the driver of the Sequoia to take evasive action.
The Sequoia crossed into the eastbound lane, where it was struck by an eastbound Ford F-250 pickup. It then hit a guardrail and a sign before rolling down an embankment.
The SUV driver briefly stopped at the scene before fleeing eastbound on SR 26.
The driver of the Sequoia, 45-year-old Dustin Reichert of Sagle, Idaho, along with passengers Nelly Kereiiyan, 32, Fatina Jepleting, 26, Erick Kayioni, 37, Timothy Oronge, 41, and a 3-year-old boy, were taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Two other passengers, a 10-year-old and a 6-year-old, both from Pullman, were uninjured in the accident.
The Ford driver was uninjured.
The SUV was only described as a small compact sport-utility vehicle with no visible damage.
The authorities are investigating the accident.
