The deadly collision happened around 12:03 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Loop 202 (South Mountain) at 24th Street near milepost 1, between Washington Street and Priest Drive.

Phoenix, AZ – One person was killed and another was injured in a head-on collision in Phoenix, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The deadly collision happened around 12:03 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Loop 202 (South Mountain) at 24th Street near milepost 1, between Washington Street and Priest Drive.
DPS said a Subaru SUV was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when it sideswiped a Hyundai passenger vehicle in the number one lane, before colliding head-on with a Kia passenger vehicle.
The Subaru overturned and came to a rest on its roof following the collision while Kia came to rest on the right shoulder against the concrete wall.
The Kia driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Subaru driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Hyundai was found abandoned west of the accident scene. The driver fled the scene.
Impairment was suspected to have been a factor in the accident.
The accident closed westbound Loop 202 at Center Parkway. It has since been reopened.
The authorities are investigating the accident.
