King, OR – A man was killed and several others were injured on Thursday after a car hit two people and then crashed into three vehicles in King, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
The fatal accident happened around 11:46 a.m. on August 7 in the 5900 block of Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near the Jerrett Street bus stop.
Police said a Ford Escape was traveling northbound when it veered onto the sidewalk and hit two men.
One of the men, 49-year-old DaRon V. Craig, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The Ford continued northbound where it sideswiped a Hyundai SUV, which was stopped in the left turn lane at Northeast Ainsworth Street. It then crossed a median north of Northeast Ainsworth Street and crashed head-on into a Buick sedan and a Toyota pickup truck, before stopping.
Four people, including the Ford Escape driver, were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Toyota was uninjured in the accident.
Officers said the Ford Escape driver has two prosthetic legs, but it was unclear if that was a factor in the series of accidents.
