1 Driver Critically Hurt in Chicago’s South Side on S Cottage Grove

Police said a gray sedan and white SUV crashed for reasons still under investigation.

Driver Critically Injured in Car Accident on S Cottage Grove

Chicago, IL. – One driver was hospitalized with critical injuries following a major collision early Monday morning in the South Side, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The crash occurred at the intersection of  8700 South Cottage Grove Avenue at about 12:25 a.m. 

Police said a gray sedan and white SUV crashed for reasons still under investigation.

Police said the 25-year-old man sedan driver might have ran a red light before slamming into the SUV. The man was transported to Trinity Hospital in a stable condition.

The white SUV male adult driver was rushed to University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition.

Police said no one was arrested and citations pending.

An investigation by the Major Accidents Investigation Unit (MAIU) is underway.
