Semi Driver Airlifted After Rollover Accident on Highway 143 in Edwardsville

Witnesses told police the semi-truck struck the edge of the train overpass along the highway and rolled over.

Edwardsville, IL. – A semi driver was flown to the hospital after a major rollover collision on Thursday near Edwardsville, according to the Illinois State Police.

The accident occurred at around 1:44 p.m. July 31 on Highway 143, just west of the train viaduct.

Witnesses told police the semi-truck struck the edge of the train overpass along the highway and rolled over.

The driver was conscious and responsive at the scene but he required extrication. He was flown to St. Louis University Hospital for treatment.

Both lanes of Highway 143 were blocked due to the collision.

The semi-truck was towed away from the crash site.

The incident remains under investigation.
