Jarri Saul and Girl, 15 Killed in Albany Car Crash on Highway 226

The crash happened on Monday, July 28, 2025, at approximately 7:47 a.m. on Highway 226 near milepost 1.5, the Oregon State Police said.

Albany, OR – One of the two people who were killed following a two-vehicle fatal crash on Highway 226 near Albany Monday morning has been identified.

The Oregon State Police (OSP) identified the deceased victim as Jarri Lynn Saul, a 55-year-old resident of Lebanon.

A 15-year-old female Japanese exchange student also died in the collision.

The crash happened on Monday, July 28, 2025, at approximately 7:47 a.m. on Highway 226 near milepost 1.5, the Oregon State Police said.

According to OSP, a red Buick Envoy, driven Jarri Saul, was heading eastbound on Highway 226 when the driver attempted to turn north onto Old Bridge Drive.

The Buick turned into the path of a westbound blue Kenworth commercial motor vehicle, operated by Douglas Edward Ahlberg, a 49-year-old of resident Aumsville, and the two vehicles collided head-on.

Saul was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 15-year-old female Japanese exchange student, who was in the front seat of the Buick was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Another 15-year-old female Japanese exchange student, who was in the rear seat of the Buick, was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Ahlberg was not injured.

The highway was shut down for about four hours as crews and investigators worked at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
