Riley Vercher Identified as Person Killed in Crash on I-57 in Cook County

Police said Vercher, an occupant of a vehicle involved in an earlier collision, alighted from their vehicles and was struck by a passing vehicle.

Riley Vercher Dies After County Club Hills Accident on I-57 near Vollmer Road

Cook County, IL. – 25-year-old Riley Vercher of Park Forest has been identified as the person killed in a deadly collision early Sunday morning in Country Club Hills, Cook County, according to the Illinois State Police.

The accident happened at around 4:00 a.m. July 27 on southbound I-57 near Vollmer Road.

Police said Vercher, an occupant of a vehicle involved in an earlier collision, alighted from their vehicles and was struck by a passing vehicle.

Vercher was declared dead at the crash site.

Another individual was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Southbound lanes of I-57 were blocked at I-80 for several hours following the collision. The I-80 to southbound I-57 connector was also blocked.

All lanes were reopened a while after 10:00 a.m. 

An investigation is underway.
