Police said an occupant of a vehicle involved in an earlier collision alighted from their vehicles and was struck by a passing vehicle.
Cook County, IL. – One person was killed following a fatal collision early Sunday morning in Country Club Hills, Cook County, according to the Illinois State Police.
The accident happened at around 4:00 a.m. on southbound I-57 near Vollmer Road.
Police said an occupant of a vehicle involved in an earlier collision alighted from their vehicles and was struck by a passing vehicle.
One person was killed in the collision.
Another individual was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Southbound lanes of I-57 were blocked at I-80 for several hours following the crash. The I-80 to southbound I-57 connector was also blocked.
All lanes were reopened a while after 10:00 a.m.
An investigation is underway.
